House Rules

Most house rules are just clarifications of national rules already in existance and are put in place so there is no confusion on or off the
field while fighting in an Einherjar battle. Additonaly none of these
rules if taken to heart and followed would be questioned or cause an arguement at a national event. As they are unambiguous,
and helpful.

Each one of these rules will be read allowed and explained before
each and every Einherjar event.

#1 Heralds
National rule states:
2.2.The herald is the primary authority on the battlefield.
2.2.1. A herald has the right to remove anyone from the field.

Clarification: No fighter shall ever argue a call made by a herald on the feild. This could lead to removal of any fighter. If a bad call by a hearld is made then it should be calmly discussed off the feild.

#2 Receiving Damage
Dagorhir scoring is based on the maximum possible damage received from a weapon in real life, and a weak hit that had no force behind it would not cause much damage in reality. It is imperative that you strike your opponents with suffiecent force to cause a limb to be hacked off (Because all weapons are checked for safety at each battle all weapons will not cause injury unless the weapon breaks down on the feild). Hits should be delivered with enough force to be felt, not only because many people do not realize they have been hit, but when they are in the middle of melee combat their adrenaline is up.

#3 Calling Colors
Combatants attacking an opponent with a Red or Green weapon MUST shout the color of the weapon being used (i.e. Double-Green). This informs the opponent that it was a two-handed attack, and causes the appropriate damage. If the color is not called, the opponent should take damage as if struck by the weapon with a one handed attack.

Clarification: Not calling colors will slow down the battle and cause arguments. It is not the defender's responsibility to determine if you are attacking him/her with a two-handed swing or thrust, it is the attacker's responsibility to announce it.

#4 Attacking from Behind
Combatants attacking an opponent with a melee weapon from behind MUST shout the color of the weapon they are using upon a successful strike (i.e. Blue). This informs the opponent that it was an attack, and causes damage. If the color is not called, but the opponent is aware of the attack and believes they have been struck by a weapon, they should take damage as normal. Otherwise they should consider it to be an unsuccessful strike and take no damage.

Clarification: Not calling colors will not only slow down the battle, but will cause arguments. Which in hand could lead to the removal of any and all fighters in question.

#5 Sheild breaking
National rule states:
3.5.2. All Red weapons when used two-handed can destroy a shield with two solid blows. Light or glancing hits to a shield do not count

Clarification: Two good hard blows that would split or smash a real wooden sheild must be delivered. After which the oppoent being struck MUST signal if the shot was successful by answering 'Yes' for a successful shot or 'No' for an insuccessful shot.

#6 Green weapons
National rule states:
4.4.3. To penetrate armor, a green weapon must be thrust with both hands from the beginning of the thrust until it has connected solidly with the target.

Clarification: A 2 handed thrust must deliver suffecient force that would actually penetrate real Armour. (ie A good spear thrust should drive the person backwards)

#7 Javelins
Combatants attacking an opponent using a javelin as a projectile MUST shout POINT upon a successful strike. This informs the opponent that it was the head of the javelin, not the shaft, and causes damage. Combatants must also call SHAFT upon an unsuccessful hit where the shaft of the javelin makes contact with the opponent, this informs the opponent to take no damage.

#9 Projectile Weapons (Yellow & White)
A hit from a projectile is considered successful when the projectile in question is deflected (changes its path) 30 degrees in any direction from its original path.

Additionanlly once a projectile has hit an object (changed its path) it is harmless.
